In 2015, I made my own recordings at Niagara Falls. I placed a contact microphone against the interior wall of the man-made tunnels behind the Horseshoe Falls to capture the sound of the falling water. By means of digital analysis, the sonic properties of the geological landmark produced pitch materials for the piece. The waterfall’s physical structure inspired the structure of the piece, which drives down to chthonic realms.
